Mountain Shadows Golf Resort is a beautiful, full-length, mature course located at the foot of Sonoma Mountain. There are two 18 hole championship courses. The North course has a variety of dog-leg fairways with trees or water lining both edges of the fairway. If you manage to miss those, watch out for the fairway bunkers or the neighboring houses that pose the threat of out of bounds. The South course pictured here, is a much longer, more mature layout. Very large pine trees define the long fairways and the large undulating greens are always a challenging two putt. Both courses are recommended. Bodega Harbour is by far the most well known course in the area and deservedly so. It is the closest you'll get to the old Scottish style golf links in the Americas next to Pebble Beach. If you are lucky enough to play on a day with minimal wind, you will undoubtedly have the golf experience of your life. Even if your game stinks, the course layout,the challenging holes, and the scenic coastal view are unmatched. Definitely worth the money and Joe's number one recommendation. Another great course for the money. Always in great condition, and a variety of holes make this course a pleasure to play anyday of the week. Known for its length, the front nine is as self explanatory as they come. It is on the back nine where things get interesting. Hole #12, a 400 yard, 90 degree dog-leg right with a creek protecting the right side of the green gets the bogeys started. Then on the picturesque #16, the view from the tee is like no other in golf. You need a cart for this one because you tee off onto a fairway that is 200 feet below you. Watch out for the OB markers; they are closer than you think! Joe's rating: 8 out of 10 | ||||||||||||||||
